In Pakistan wife can recover past maintenance of six years period. Under the limitation act wife can file suit for the recovery of maintenance within the period of six years. The conditions for the recovery is that the wife should be obedient to the husband and she should dwell with her husband and perform the conjugal rights of her husband. It is the primary duty of the husband to provide her wife all the possible sources of living including shelter etc. Similarly the father is bound to maintain his children till the age of majority. The father shall pay the maintenance allowance to the child. There is no hard and fast rule to determine the quantum of maintenance of the children. However while determining the quantum of maintenance the court considers the financial status and the income of the father.
